Thats cool! When you made the little guys walk, did you move the papper or did you just cut out all the diffrent movements? Also, I was wondering how you did the lights in the buildings, and the realistic sky? I’m pretty shure the sky is green screen, but I’m clueless about the lights!
Hi Kelsey! This animation was made by 4th Estate. They have a bunch of movies showing how this animation was made on their Vimeo channel. There’s a link above.
The people walking are complete cutouts. Every time a frame is grabbed, the cutout is swapped for one in a new position. This is faster than individually moving the arms and legs.
The backgrounds are authentic. Lights are placed in the house models, and the windows are made from transparent material. Thin paper works well – it diffuses the light and looks great.
